Tempus Fugit
Strictly speaking, this is not a rendering. This is a Photoshop composite of several objects, all of which were rendered in Cinema 4D. The sky is an image from a stock photo CD. Everything else here is synthetic. The image was created to be the backdrop for our annual office calendar, a 34 x 22 sized piece of functional artwork. The theme of this piece is time, and subliminal advertising imagery. Some people believe that advertisers hide pictures of women, death, embryos, etc. in order to invoke an emotional response that helps the viewer remember the ad. In practice we never do this — it simply does not work. But its fun to play around with the concept so there are a lot of images hidden within this piece. In the final piece, there are messages hidden as text within and around the elements of the calendar. It's more overt than subliminal, but it creates a kind of visual puzzle where the more you look at it, the more you will see.

You can click on various elements in the image on this page, and you will be shown a page with the raw rendering of that element and, in some cases, a discussion of the rendering challenges involved.
